Semiconductor component distributor Yosun Industrial expects its sales in July to hit a record; while sales in the third quarter will improve 10-15% from the second quarter.
Although the average selling price (ASP) of memory components remains flat, increased PC shipments and holiday season demand will drive Yosun's sales to a new high in July, and sales will steadily increase in August and perhaps even in September, the company noted while adding that fourth quarter sales should be able to grow 3-5% from the third quarter.
While most investors categorize Yosun as a memory distributor, the company noted its sales of memory components account for only 34% of its total sales. For its sales in the memory segment, DRAM accounts for 60% of the total while NAND flash account for 30%.
The company also mentioned that one of its partners Samsung Electronics offers price protection for Yosun to avoid pressure of inventory loss.
For passive components, the contribution from GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi modules from Samsung total about NT$30 million (US$976 thousand) to NT$40 million in sales each month; resistances and capacitors from its subsidiary Lipers Enterprise provides about NT$60 million a month, accounting for less than 1% of Yosun's total monthly sales. In the future the sales proportion of passive components will increase, the company added.
